Record financial results have been reported by Microsoft in regards to its second quarter ended December 31st. Company wide revenue stood at $20.89 billion, along with a net income worth $6.62 billion. Wow, that’s impressive.
In the three month period, Microsoft shipped 8.2 million Xbox 360s. During the same quarter last year, just 6.3 million were shipped – a significant increase. Entertainment and Devices Division was up 15 percent year-over-year to $4.24 billion, with operating income at $528 million – a decrease from $66 from the year prior.
Kevin Turner, chief operating officer for Microsoft, said “In addition to the continued strength of our commercial business, this holiday season was the strongest in Microsoft history, thanks to good sales execution and compelling products like Xbox 360 and Kinect. We are seeing a lot of excitement for new devices, from Windows 7 Ultrabooks to new Windows Phones, as well as growing anticipation for Windows 8”.
