Calling all golf enthusiasts! Ever tried to emulate the golf pros and mirror your game after theirs? Tired of not succeeding? What if you could be those golfers themselves? That’s right! You can be like the world’s best golfers with Real Golf 2011 HD.
Here, you get to choose which of the world’s 10 top players to play as on 10 different golf courses. There are two types of controls - intuitive touch-based control scheme and classic controls for some easy pic-up-and-playability. That allows you to guide the ball however you wish. You can also implement some spin into your shot by adding said spin while the ball is flying through the air.
There is an in-game tutorial that teaches you the basics of the game. However, I didn’t note any kind of teachings for the different golf clubs that are out there, which would’ve been nice to know, considering that I am only a beginner at golf and can’t differentiate between the different clubs. I guess by looking at the clubs, I can tell, but still!
As I mentioned earlier, there are 10 different players to choose from (Anthony Kim, Natalie Gulbis, Camilo Villegas, Vijay Singh, Greg Norman, Jim Furyk, Sergio Garcia, Annika Sorenstam, Justin Rose, Karrie Webb) and you can play on 10 different and beautiful golf courses (Evian Masters (France), Bethpage (USA), Harbour Town (USA), Pearl Valley Golf Estates (South Africa), Old Head (Ireland), Kiawah Island (USA), Kingston Heath Golf Club (Australia), Bali Ocean Course (Indonesia), Cherry Blossom Golf Club (Japan), Royal Loch Course (Scotland)). I must say, I was impressed at the details of the golf course - it makes you feel as if you were there before to actually experience it firsthand.
Controlling the ball is quite easy - there is a meter that allows you to gauge how hard you want to hit the ball and there is a green line that tells you where the perfect amount of power is good. But like I noted above, without really knowing the details of the individual clubs, I found it a little difficult to figure out which club was appropriate in a certain situation. For example, I kept hitting into the water because I just couldn’t find the appropriate club that would go a far distance from where I was standing (I was in the rough). That unfortunately made me a little despondent.
Overall, this game was quite fun. I would say that $4.99 for the game is a bit of a hefty price tag, but seeing how I got my copy on sale, I would advise you to do the same. After all, for a game that just has you measure where to hit your shots, then release and hit the ball, $4.99 is a bit much. And if you don’t want to play the tournament style, you can always challenge your friends or those around the world. Playing golf was never more simple. And with the beautiful graphics and smooth sailing, your gameplay experience will be fantastic.

Sounds like a great game to play even for the price. It must take quite some space for the graphics.
