Are you gearing up for the Super Bowl? Want to play a few games of football before you prop down on your couches, snacks at hand, to watch the NY Giants and New England Patriots battle it up? Well, then, you should probably check out MADDEN NFL 12 by EA SPORTS™ For iPad. It will definitely get you into the mood.
This game is designed for sports lovers and football fanatics. After all, you are in charge of one of the 32 football teams out there and you play quick games (2 minute drive) for a winning touchdown. After all, isn’t that what football is about? Making touchdowns/field goals in order to defeat the other team?
You pretty much control every single player out there. Goodness - there are so many of them! What to do? There are handbooks that will help you determine the different basic plays and whatnot, but if you’re like me and confused about the football terms and whatnot, you might be more than a little lost. And that’s me putting it kindly. After all, trying to take a look at the controls, figure out who to throw the ball to, move, and whatnot, I got lost with the controls.
I must say, I got the game when it was on sale, so I only spent a $0.99. But what a headache I had. I couldn’t open the game for the life of me. It would get me to the splash page, then just die. Signing up for an Origin account, removing and installing the game multiple times…you would think those methods would help, but no, it didn’t. I don’t know how I suddenly got the game to begin but it was a real big hassle and one that frustrated me greatly.
Even though there is a playbook (quite a few) that will teach you the basics of the plays and whatnot, I was still left confused. The instructions weren’t all that clear and it wasn’t like they had an in-game tutorial where you learn on the go (and which that kind of teaching style has helped me because I’m not the fastest learner for games). I miraculously won my first game by just randomly hitting buttons and praying that something good would happen.
Currently, the game sells for $6.99, which is totally expensive and definitely not worth it. Especially if you don’t know much about football. You’re better off actually picking up a football yourself and playing with friends if you need some football in your life. Other than that, the graphics are nice, but good graphics don’t surmount to anything, especially when you’re trying to figure out how to play the darn game.
