Sony plans to launch a new update, System Firmware Ver. 1.60, for the PS Vita on February 8th, containing a map application, video recording, and Mac OS support.
The map application will work similarly to a GPS system, allowing users to pinpoint their location, search for addresses, and set destinations, while the camera function will allow users to record videos.
Getting a GPS function and being able to record videos isn’t all that special for modern technology, as most smart phones also have these abilities; however, what takes the cake for this system update is the Mac OS support. The PS Vita could only access information through the PS2 and Windows PC, which left Mac users out of the loop. The Mac OS support allows users to transfer data in the form of videos, music, pictures, and backup files between the PS Vita and Mac.
Additionally, the PS button will also gain an update, lighting up blue for when the system is ‘on,’ and blinking when in standby mode.
