After years of wait, Diablo 3 is finally out! Having played every game in the Diablo series including the Diablo 3 beta, I sort of knew what to expect from the game. With only 2 hours and 30 minutes of gameplay in, I realized that this was simply not the case. Diablo 3 has exceeded all of my expectations and it by far surpasses its predecessors. The graphics, the sounds, the music, the lore, the voice acting, the cinematics, the physics, pretty much everything was carefully thought out – no wonder it took years to complete.
One of the first things that really grabbed my attention in the world of Diablo 3 was the environment. The colorful dynamic graphics and the realistic ambient noises made a great tag team for producing the most vivid environments. You can almost feel the hollowness of a cave, the depth of a canyon, and the dampness inside an underground cellar — it were as if you were there yourself. I was also amazed on how smooth the game ran when set on high settings. Even my sub-par outdated computer could handle it!

I played in a party of three as a Wizard for my duration and found the game to be quite challenging even though it was on normal difficulty. There had been a couple of ‘OMG’ moments — one of which I particularly recall when opening a trapped chest. Remember in the old Diablo 2 days when a trapped chest would simply explode or fire an arrow at you? Simple trickery no more! This trapped chest spawned four towering black spires of death, which had the ability to summon hordes of skeletons. And destroying these spires were no simple feat as they took forever to take down! Add that to being constantly chased by skeletons … oh boy. Luckily for me, I barely survived – can’t say too much about my partner though. Imagine what it would be like on higher difficulties!
But oh, there’s so much more. I could go on and on. I am already looking forward towards my next gaming session. Tune in later for more recaps and an upcoming review of the game!
