With the videography done by Mike Larremore, watch as artist Chris Carlson makes Mario come alive…with chalk!

Leaping off an old school NES controller, you can see the process of how things seem to become 3D and almost pop off the ground. Though via a time lapse and a whimsical soundtrack, the act of just observing Carlson at work is amazing in itself.
