People have been waiting for the return of Diablo for quite a few years, and now that it’s here, there have been a large number of Diablo III marathons taking place. However, one die-hard fan’s obsession with the game has lead to his death.

An 18-year-old Taiwanese player was found dead recently after a marathon that took 40 hours, according to the Australian Associated Press! The player, identified as Chuang, booked a room at one of the nearby Internet cafés, and immediately began playing without stopping to eat, sleep or even use the toilet.

This past Sunday, he was found passed out on a table. He woke up when an employee checked on him, but collapsed after just a few steps. He was sent to the hospital, but pronounced dead a little while later.

While an autopsy report is under way, it is suspected that the caused of death was blood clots which were formed due to the long period of sitting.

While this is a tragedy, this is not the first marathon death in Taiwan in 2012, and it might not be the last, unless people control their, uh, video game intake.
