Flashback to the mid-1990s, where the DOS computer system allowed one to play the fun game known as Wolfenstein 3D. If you were alive then and your parents owned a DOS-run computer as well as the game, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Ah, the good old days.

Oh, got sidetracked, whoops! You see, Wolfenstein 3D is a very old yet classic game and I still recall watching my relatives play this game when I was still a wee little thing. So when I happened to see Electronic Arts have a massive sale and the game Wolfenstein RPG was on sale, I wasted no time to go obtain the game to see how this game is different from the game I watched a while back.

Boy, was it different. You still play as the same character B.J. Blazkowicz, who must fight his way out of the Nazi-held prison, so it was kinda like a blast from the past, but only a little. The basics are there, such as finding hidden stuff in crates and behind Nazi flags, as well as paintings. And you must use your head a little to figure out to get into certain areas. Say, breaking into prison cells that have some good treats for you and will help you out in your battle for survival. Should be loads of fun.

Needless to say, playing on the computer and playing on the iPod Touch are two separate matters. It’s much easier to play a game such as this on the computer because you have more fingers to hit the different key controls to help you switch between your different modes of attack, where as in the iPod Touch, you need to scroll a couple times through to get your preferred method of attacking. In addition, it is a little more difficult to move because the controls are more sensitive. Press the keypad too much and you’ll overshoot your intended target. Oh and shooting. With a computer, you can just press down on your space bar and kill the baddies in a split second. Here? You have to continuously hit the screen in order to shoot. Boo.

Of course, since this is a sequel of a sequel of a sequel, the weapons and gameplay will be different, but the graphics still give one a nostalgic feeling and that is always a plus. This is one time I don’t mind not seeing HD graphics.

Despite my initial misgivings, I did enjoy this game. After all, how can you not enjoy killing chicken as a health boost? Ha, it was fun (yet a bit cruel) to punch and kick the chicken a few times before it went to heaven. My condolences, chicken, but I need to eat in order to survive, ya know? Survival of the fittest! Oh and ya know, talking to the other prisoners is a little fun, though a bit unnerving because they look a bit…scary.
