From its release in February of last year in Japan, the Nintendo 3DS has sold 19 million units, which is not a bad landmark. In the first financial quarter ending June 30th 2012, 1.96 million units were impressively shipped.

That’s 162 percent more than last year’s tally in that period. There’s been 7.39 million software sales on the 3DS platform so far this year, a significant increase from last year’s total of 4.53 million, which was rather dissappointing.

So its a good time for some positive news as such of the 3DS improving, ahead of the release of the 3DS XL.
