iPod Touch Review: Bop It!

Bop It! Twist it! Pull it! Pull it! Twist It! Twist It! ARGHHHHHH! Remember that fun game known as Bop It! where you probably looked like a fool while trying to pull and twist and bop a little toy? It’s back and pretty fun for the iOS.

The classic game has been moved over to the iOS and it’s a little interesting as you can play in the Classic mode, which is the original bop-twist-pull moves. Except, it’s a little harder on the iOS because instead of actually physically pulling or twisting, you have to do that on the screen, but a little more on that later.

In this version of Bop It!, there are four different solo modes: Classic, Extreme, Basic, and Blitz. Classic is mentioned above, Extreme gives you six different objects to manage on the screen, Basic does everything slow and easy, and Blitz has you getting 20 of the objects correct in the fastest time possible. You can also play with friends, like how you did back in the day. Four modes as well: Pass It Basic, Pass It Extreme, Head 2 Head, and Blitz, and all are what they are named. In addition to these modes, you can change the themes to that of Christmas (it’s what I have) to regular to funky/party feels. Hey, makes bopping much more fun, doesn’t it? There is also a tutorial in which you get to demo and try out the different moves related to the objects. You can follow the directions on how to use each object with your fingers, or better yet, use the actual iPod to score extra bonus points. Sweet!

Using your fingers to bop, pull, twist, etc. is a little challenging because it’s a screen that you’re using. Yeah. That’s kinda the one thing I didn’t like but had to deal with. Sometimes, the screen wouldn’t register my moves and you know, I’d lose and I’d scream at my iPod, saying, “Why didn’t you take that in?!” But that’s life. Because it is a touch game, I can’t complain, ha. That’s just how the game was designed.

For all my griping, though, it is a fun game and will bring you back to the good old days where you actually touched the toy and played the game. And considering the fact that there are different modes and different themes for $0.99 (sale price), I say you’re definitely getting your money’s worth.
