Speaking in the latest issue of Games Master Steve Gibson, VP of Gearbox, claims that Borderlands 2 is to appear as a “50-60%” larger than the original title. This has apparently be made possible by technological advancements.

Cities involved in this next edition in the game would not have been included in the first, due to their large capacities. And Gibson said “I wouldn’t be surprised if it was about 50-60% bigger [than Borderlands 1],” he told GM. “But it’s also so much denser. Heck, just the city of Sanctuary, something like that couldn’t exist in the first game. Our technology has evolved a lot to enable us to do that now”.

Gibson went on further to claim that background experience of the original Borderlands is not essential for enjoyment of the Borderlands 2. So it all seems good for anyone willing to get involved with the action packed game.
