Final Fantasy 7, the role playing game developed for the Final Fantasy franchise by Square Enix, was recently re-released for the PC. However, many problems related to the launching and activation of the game prompted an apology from Square Enix.

The PC re-release was launched last week. Buyers encountered problems when attempting to activate the game. Some reported server errors when logging into Square Enix’s site, receiving a message saying that their copy of the game was already registered. Some buyers were not provided with an activation key at all.

The publisher said that, “Resolving this issue is our top priority and we apologize the inconvenience that this has caused. We’ll update you when the issue is resolved and if there is any action that you need to take.”

However, they claim that the problems only affected “a small number of people.”

“We apologize deeply for this issue: our store servers are experiencing very strong traffic and we are working to fix this in the shortest amount of time”, they continued.

“We endeavor to send an activation key and download link to all those who have purchased the game so far. If you would like to request a refund, please get in contact with our customer support team”, they explained.
