Remember way back in the day where you would go try to find those arcade games with the spaceships and you’d try to shoot down all the enemy ships that came your way? Well, if you enjoyed that, then you’re sure to enjoy Super Crossfire. Time to bring along your super reflexes and skill!
So what Super Crossfire encompasses is a fast-paced style, coupled with the classic arcade game of yonder, except with a twist: you can ‘warp’ to the other side of the screen, surprising the enemy ships and avoiding enemy fire, though this is easier said than done when you battle to the later levels. It takes fast-pace to a new level, though, and makes you need to really focus on the game; otherwise, you’ll find yourself at the losing end of the game, which happened to me on many occasions.
Your main objective is accumulating as much energy as possible from the remnants of the enemy ships that you destroy, in addition to taking out each way without dying. Thanks to the handy powers of warping, you are able to complete that because the first few levels are slow in nature and give you more time to complete your objectives. Then the game becomes faster and faster and you’re racing against the speed as well as enemy ships.
Let me tell you: this game is fantastic. The controls are super smooth to use and you just need to slide your fingers across the iPod Touch (more like your thumbs) and tap to just switch sides. In addition, the game switches the camera view when you warp, so it makes it easier to take down the enemy ships. I haven’t tried it out on the iPad (even though it’s compatible), but I get the feeling that this is game is just better on the iPod Touch because of its smaller physical form, which makes playing much easier.
It’s exciting, exhilarating, and best of all, it will give you that adrenaline boost when you need it most. Find yourself falling asleep? Play the game to stop yourself from doing so!
