If you’re looking to become a hero, you should check out the RPG game known as Heroes in Time, where you become a hero. More like an unlikely hero because all you wanted to do was become a knight and protect your master.
In this game, you play as the wolf-boy-turned-knight Mikhail, who became a servant for the kind-hearted Prince Carl. Back in the day, the King went into the forest with his sons Caesar and Carl and chanced upon Mikhail, who was very much a wolf-boy. The King and Caesar wanted to kill Mikhail on the spot, but Carl put a stop to that nonsense, arguing that Mikhail is still human. And that’s how the story begins..
Nope - the story began on a stormy night around 18 years before the start of the game where the King’s wife gave birth to twins. Now if you remember in ancient history, some nations believed that twins in the royal family was an omen and would bring forth disaster upon the family, so typically a twin would be killed or sent far, far away. Given that the King’s advisor couldn’t bring himself to kill one of the twins, he sacrificed himself so that the twin would be alive (hint hint).
Because of Mikhail’s past, he’s not well looked upon by others, so he strives to make himself worthy, hence the knight test. From there, you’re off to make yourself stronger and to be worthy and make Carl look better since your actions reflect upon Carl. The controls are quite simple to use, so that certainly wasn’t too bad. But that map…
You’re given tasks in the game since it is a RPG, right? Except, the map isn’t all that useful and you’re not really told which direction to go into. Luckily, Mikhail is smart enough to ‘let you know’ which directions are the incorrect way to go. But you know, if the map actually showed me where I needed to go, I wouldn’t have this problem. And those NPCs…sometimes, it’s not really clear as to which ones I need to talk to since they don’t have any of those question marks or exclamation marks to lead me in the right direction.
Heroes in Time is not a bad RPG since it is free, but there are better free RPG games out there.
