A milestone has been hit in terms of the selling of games in the Halo franchise with the announcement that around 46 million Halo games have now been sold. It first began with Halo: Combat Evolved, the inaugural game that released back in 2001.

What that means for Microsoft is that around $3 billion worth of revenue has been generated in the selling of these games. $200 million of that figure, was reaped by the copies of Halo Reach sold within its first 24 hours alone.

An estimation of 5 billion hours worth of play has been made by Microsoft, towards its record-breaking game during Xbox Live activity. What’s more is that even more time is expected to be lodged up, with the arrival of Halo 4 on November 6th.
