Multiplayer naval battles will not have a place in Assassin’s Creed 4, according to Ubisoft. Carsten Myhill, the lead content manager of Ubisoft, spoke to CVG to say that ship vs ship battles will not occur despite multiplayer being important.

“We’re going to be communicating big on multiplayer in the coming weeks,” he said. “However, what I can say is that unfortunately we won’t be doing naval multiplayer for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. The reason for that is that we really wanted to take it to the next level for an open-world pirate experience, and all our effort has gone into that. Of course, it would be great, but sadly not”.

Many will feel disappointed, especially as multiplayer action will be a key component of the game once again. What do you make of this news?
