The game industry moves so fast that unless you dedicate days on end to just playing games and doing nothing else, many hit titles will fly right past you. It is also hard to play everything! Look, I’m tired, it’s been a long day, and I found this cool video on the internet. Yeah, someone’s gone and carved a Big Daddy from Bioshock 2 (an Alpha Daddy! Not a Big Daddy! That’s what the loremaster in me says) out of a tree. They kind of look like Jason in the video, too, and the classic, terrifying strings music from the game doesn’t help, either. I have to admit I am not just an avid fan of the Naruto anime series, I am addicted to it. At least I used to be. Recently I fell out of sync with the episodes, and the last one I saw was Naruto fine tuning his new Rasengen Jittsu before battling two of the akatsuki members. Thankfully that all changed a week or so ago when I picked up my old copy of Naruto: Rise of the Ninja and got pulled back into the land of fire. Now I am hustling through all the Shippuden episodes I missed via Hulu(which is so useful and awesome by the way). The timing couldn’t be more perfect though, for just today I noticed the new Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 trailer and got the hankering for some ninja battles.

This awesome trailer reveals that the game will be released in the fall on Xbox360 and PS3, and highlights Naruto punching the crap out of Sakura. I guess he got fed up with her always beating him down? Check it out after the jump More »

I pose this question to all you anime nerds out there: Have you ever watched Outlaw Star, a space combat anime that came out way back in 1997? It revolved around a dude who piloted a super crazy customizable space craft looking for something out in space, while fighting off aliens and other humans. It sounds super generic, but I loved it, and every time i watched a new episode I would always think “man this would be such an awesome video game!” Well, it seems after 13 years some kind of gaming god heard my wish and is now making it happen. The Yakuza series never really did much for me. It always seemed somewhat lackluster, but even though it wasn’t my cup of tea, everyone deserves another shot, right? See that image above? This is the only thing you will see if you come across Battle Fantasia in the PS3 PSN store. No screenshots, no trailer, and not much information at all. Unless you’re familiar with this game (which was out for Xbox 360 before the PS3), you would probably just overlook it.

Which is really too bad, because Battle Fantasia is a fantastic and quirky game, well worth every cent of the 20 bucks it costs. More »

Two Japanese companies have posted their profit/loss sheets for ‘09, since the fiscal year ends March 31st. The big gainer is Square Enix, publishers of the mighty Final Fantasy series as well as Supreme Commander and Just Cause. Projected profits are almost twice as high as last year’s, probably thanks to the combined Japanese Final Fantasy XIII and Dragon Quest IX launch in December ‘09. It’s not all good news though, with the quirky Nippon Ichi Software posting an absolutely insane 97.5% decrease in operating profits through the first three quarters of their ‘09 fiscal year.
