Seven.
That’s the number of Xbox 360’s I’ve owned over the last 5 years. 2 of those were repaired, but the other 5 I’ve purchased brand-new just because of the price of shipping and repairs.
Guess what started crashing today? Lucky Number 7. More »
GameFly, in terms of service, is like having a beautiful girlfriend that hates your guts. Sure it’s nice to show it off to your friends and impress your family, but chances are you’re only going to get the kind of action you’re looking for probably no more than once a month. I’ve been a GameFly subscriber for six months now and still have games in my GameQ that have been there since day one and have not been sent to me. My friends, Netflix this is not. More »

So with only a few days between me and the universe trekking that will happen once I pop in my copy of Mass Effect 2, I can’t help but be super excited. But, what could make me even more antsy than I already am, you ask? Besides it materializing into my hands right now? More »
The age old argument; PC or Console Gaming?
With the advantage of customization of hardware on the PC, also comes its downfall. Constant upgrades to graphics cards, sound cards, motherboards, processors, etc., soon leave the beast you spent $1600 on absolutely moot because of the upgrades that will continue to pile onto the top of that price tag.
Consoles provide a much more static platform, one that makes the developers work on improving the technology by advancing in-game engines and utilizing tried and true methods of making even the most archaic graphics card seem like brand new. Again, also within a console’s strength lies the weakness. More »
Just a quick word on everybody’s favorite co-operative zombie murder simulator Left 4 Dead 2, as Valve does what they do normally and updates their blog. Besides the upcoming “The Passing” DLC, looks like a major update is coming to both the PC and the poor, neglected XBox 360 versions of the game. More »
Why is it that just about every Xbox 360 3rd party exclusive eventually makes it way to the PS3 and the other way around? I’m not talking about “timed” exclusives either, I mean games like Lost Planet, Ninja Gaiden, and Tales of Vesperia that were deemed exclusives from day one, leaving everyone to think one system owners will be left out of the fun. Is it fair for consumers to base their purchases off of “exclusives” that were never intended to be exclusive from the start? More »
This has got to be one of the most successful uses of DLC I’ve ever seen.
When you purchase Mass Effect 2, you receive a Cerberus Network Card; activating the service using the one time use code that comes on the card allows you to download free bonus content and provides a streaming news feed that updates you about paid DLC that will be available in the near future, upcoming patches, not to mention a spectrum of other goodies. When i briefly heard about a new Front Mission game coming out, nostalgia filled my brain. Thoughts of sitting with my PlayStation in my living room delving into one of the first strategy RPG’s I ever experienced got me all tingling inside. We all have that one special game that opened up our gaming world to a whole new genre, and for me, Front Mission 3 was it. So you could only imagine my level of excitement when I heard about Front Mission: Evolved coming out this spring. You would probably imagine correctly, at least until I found out it was a third person action title. More »
Bayonetta or Darksiders? MAG or Mass Effect 2? Dante’s Inferno or Bioshock 2? These are the impossible decisions gamers face on a daily basis. Multiple great games being released on the same date breaks our collective heart, yet publishers continue to match up 2 great titles week after week. My question for you is how do you decide? More »
Bungie is going to be making a number of donations in a number of different ways.
You can purchase a special edition Superintendent T-Shirt for $20.00, all of the proceeds will be given to Red Cross. You can also contribute just by playing! More »
The first few things you are going to notice right off the bat with Dark Void are: graphics, jet pack, Nathan Fillion! And most likely they’ll be in that order. The demo opens to William Augustus Grey’s first time taking his jet pack for a drive. His training objectives are to destroy a couple watch towers, stationary weapons, and space crafts along a gorgeous cliffside overlooking a river. While Will is getting used to his new rocket powered backpack his animations are awkward and his witty banter shows his struggle with trying to harness the powers of his suit. The decision to have Will as an amateur soldier is a standout choice by Airtight Games. It’s not often that we’re given the chance to walk in the shoes of an underdog, so it’s a nice breath of fresh air from our usual world renowned super soldiers. More »
A Christian group is calling for the ban of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in Maine, stating that while the State of Maine hasn’t had any school shootings, the incident is only so far away if they continue to allow the sale of violent video games.
I’m sad to say that this really upsets me, nay; it infuriates me. More »
Production costs of a video game these days can cost as much a full blown major motion picture. Of course we all love the graphics and the depth in the story we see in the end product, but what about the little guys?
The days where you could go out and start a game development company are almost over, unless you’re a freaking billionaire. Prime example of the underdog story: Insomniac Games. More »
$60 is a lot for a brand new video game. $80 for a special collector’s edition is even worse. This isn’t news to gamers, in fact it’s a situation we face often. We suck it up, buy what we can , and then work towards saving up for our next purchase. But when is enough, enough? It’s when publishers push an $80 special collector’s edition with nothing but pre-order bonuses packaged in a tin case! More »

People involved with the game in the Sci Vs. Fi documentary provided more details about the galaxy of Mass Effect. There are two parts available at GameTrailers.com. It was interesting to watch, with people closely involved with the development telling how they see the world(s). A lot of attention was given to Subject Zero. While I don’t really like her, it’s mostly because she’s bald. And I don’t like bald people. More »
The best way to watch a movie is to best match your surroundings to that of a movie theatre: dimmed lights, reclined seat, cranked volume, and the smell of popcorn in the air. The atmosphere is half the experience after all. The same goes for playing video games. The thing with games is that the same setting isn’t always optimum for the game you’re playing. A game like Modern Warfare 2 is best enjoyed with a bunch of rambunctious friends; the louder and crazier the festivities, the more fun you’ll have. But say you want to play some Mass Effect. Well, that changes everything. The lights must be dimmed, the volume at 11, and you must be in the comfiest of chairs wrapped in your warmest blanket. More »
The apocalypse is on the horizon with the great Mayan calendar coming to an end in 2012. That gives us just about 2 years of gaming left. Only 2 years for every unreleased game in production hell to finally get released, just 730 days to replay all our favorite titles, a mere 17,520 hours to grind away in Final Fantasy XIII. So when you see that flaming meteorite burst through the atmosphere in a few years what will be spinning in your disc tray? More »

Not only is there going to be DLC the day ME2 is released, its going to be free. But what’s the point? If DLC is going to be available the same day, why not just include it with the game? Oh well. If it’s free, I shouldn’t be complaining. The DLC is reported to include new weapons, armor, a planet and a new character. The new character is a bounty hunter named Zaeed Messani which makes 10 squad members. More »

Ok class, settle down! We are at the fresh start of 2010, a brand new year! And this means new video games. Yes, that’s right, I know you all go home and stay up all night playing games when you should be doing your work (or sleeping, like some people like to do at night. Crazy, I know!) So I intend to make this a learning experience (oh groan all you want!). In honor of all these new games, let’s learn some new vocabulary!
Pay attention, you will be quizzed on this later. (Note: All definitions are from Dictionary.com).
