The PlayStation Eye is really great for a lot of things such as console camera, a PC webcam and as a part Sony’s Move setup. Intrestingly a new use for it was found, as a 3D scanner! With a little work you could have your own 3D scans. If you’re lucky enough to get a 3D printer then you could even go as far as making your own 3D action figures. More »
For those of you who were waiting for September to come in anticipation of kicking back, relaxing, and enjoying a stunning, high-quality Blu-Ray movie in eye-popping 3D visuals on your PS3, I have bad news. Whether or not they intended to do so, Sony has deceived us all! Looks like we’ll have another month of waiting to do, because the company recently announced at the IFA that the aforementioned update will actually be making its way to the console in October. Bummer. More »

At a recent Hong Kong gaming show, a gun controller unlike any other was introduced. The Mag Gun works with basically any console and is fully user-adjustable, which makes it a possible game-changer (excuse the pun) in the thriving market of FPS games like Halo and Medal of Honor. More »
We all know that it’s important for a game to satisfy players and attract a (preferably) big and loyal fan base, for the prevailing reason of raking in revenue and ensuring that the studio doesn’t go out of business due to poor sales. While 2K Games isn’t in danger of going out of business, gaming analyst Michael Pachter predicts that Mafia 2 probably won’t be able to scrape up enough profit to make its 6-year development period worthwhile. I’ve said the term “cinematic shift” enough times in the Mafia II diary posts that the CC would let me coin the phrase, so I’ll try my hardest only to mention it this once. Chapters 9 and 10 are when Vito and Joe finally get made. This shift changes everything yet again. No more slumming it in cramped apartments, no more leather jacket, and definitely no more small jobs. But is this what we wanted for Vito and Joe? More »

These beauties were created from Jacob Patterson’s hobby in designing and customizing sneakers. When one of his customers requested for a God of War pair, he didn’t want them to be ordinary - so this Kratos design is what he came up with. More »

Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the Gran Turismo series announced via Twitter that Gran turismo 5 has two installment options, a 256mb pseudo-install, and a 10GB option for the “smoothest gameplay experience” on the PS3. He didn’t really explain the reasoning for the two installment options but I’m guessing that the 256mb option is for those with the older 20GB models. I’d like to know if using the 10GB install really is a vast improvement over the smaller install. More »

With any open world game you are going to get comparisons to the Grand Theft Auto series. If you populate that open world with gangsters (whether they be from the 1950s, current day, or the Wild Wild West) people are going to assume they are the same game. It adds further fuel to the flames when it rings true with titles like Saints Row. I want to set the record straight though, Mafia II is not a re-skinned Grand Theft Auto, it’s better, much better. Recently, Square Enix disclosed that the open beta servers for Final Fantasy XIV will be available on August 31 at 7 p.m. PDT. So basically anyone who missed the closed beta testings can now experience the renowned Final Fantasy franchise. However there is one small catch — although the game will be live for 24 hours a day, there is only a limited number of spaces available for players to log on at any given time. You’ll be put on the ‘waiting list‘ until there is room opened for you. Nonetheless, this number will increase as Square Enix tests out the server load and uptake. Get ready to sign on before all the spots are taken! More »

I’ve been talking a lot about these cinematic shifts that occur throughout the Mafia II storyline. The first shift occurred when Vito was stripped from his urban environment and cast off to Sicily to fight in World War II. Next came the prison shift where we got a taste of what it was like in the can. The current shift we’re experiencing will change the look and feel of the game more than it ever has as we shift to the 1950’s. More »

Mix together big swords, big horns, and big chunks of armor and you get a little something called the Dragon Age 2 extended “Destiny” trailer. Oh wait, I forgot to mention the creepy androgynous voice that pops in every now and then — but the trailer still looks awesome! More »

If you have ever registered a game for you PS3 then you might have recently got a survey that may seem a bit too personal. A lot of the questions seem to be very weird and irrelevant to Sony but I think they are just asking normal questions in a new way but regardless, in my opinion, some of the questions are way to personal.
