Ah, the age old question of censorship. Throughout the years, we gamers have been fighting a war on house-moms and sketchy conservative politicians defending our medium of art, the violent video game. Though the topic has been beaten to death, and many people who choose to fight for censorship of the video game have been subject to ridicule (see: Jack Thompson), a new question set in the same mold has been raised, with surprising results. We know violence in videogames is here to stay, but what about rape? More »
Wasn’t the multi colored buttons getting boring? Sick of your non-musician friends always saying how they could easily play guitar because they mastered ‘Dragon Force’ on Expert in Guitar Hero 3? Now, we finally have a product that will make them shut up. Power Gig: Rise of the Six String, is a new music rhythm game that centers around the use of a real six sting guitar. More »
Who needs to run miles, or sit in front of a Stop & Shop (that’s a supermarket for all you non Rhode Island and Massachusetts residents) collecting money for charity when you can help people by playing video games!? No, and I am not talking about improving their hand eye coordination. More »
You heard right, the new Lord of the Rings Online MMO is going to be 100% free to play. The catch you ask? Well, the only catch is that some content will only be available via in-game purchases. How much of this content will be locked is still a mystery, but knowing MMO’s and how massive they are, I am sure you could get enough gameplay before dropping any gold on additional stuff. More »
You heard right! Zip, nada, zero — that’s how much you will pay for the brillantly developed puzzle and RPG combo game called Puzzle Quest. You get both installments for nothing, but only if you act fast. The deal is said to only last until the end of the weekend. More »
So I stumbled across a pretty peculiar blog the other day. It is called Old Grandma Hardcore, and it chronicles the exploits of an old lady with a foul mouth and love for video games. This ain’t no solitaire and bingo. I am talking legit, A+ titles that this really really old woman loves. She even attended PAX 2009! Check out some videos of Old Grandma Hardcore playing some games, and be sure to check out the blog run by her grandson! It is pretty hilarious. More »
DC Universe Online is a new MMO that will be talked about at E3. Since the game is made up of heroes, villains, and all things DC, the famous Batman arch enemy makes for a perfect advertisement photo! I have to say, I think I would let her poison me any day. Marvel might have the man power but boy, DC has the ladies. More »
Remember when the ESRB leaked information that Sonic Adventure would be coming to Xbox Live and PSN networks? Well, that is true. Sega confirmed that these wonderful hit titles will be making their way onto next gen downloadable platforms this fall. But thats not all. Sega still has some tricks up their sleeve! More »
If you are like me, you finished Alan Wake on May 20th, two days after release. The game was epic, and though it hid many of its answers in that darkness tornado never to be seen by the player, the entire experience was still ultimately fulfilling. With that said, two days with a game that usually lasts over a month at the least is harsh. I came to a point where I figured I would sell it off, but only having it two days and taking quite a hit in terms of price really made me uneasy. I decided to shelf it and wait for the DLC that could be coming out before letting go of my prized possession. Thankfully I now know when that date is. More »
Ed Boon and the creators of Mortal Kombat have finally listened to what the fans of the series have been clamoring for; a mature rated, gore filled, Mortal Kombat reinvented for next gen systems. More »
Final Fantasy. A household name among RPG enthusiasts (and even video game fans in general) comes at us once again with a new DS game called The Four Heroes of Light. Why the generic title you ask? Well, this game prides itself on going back to the basics. No epic story, no insanely fine-tuned character development, just a good old storybook tale of good vs. evil, light vs. darkness, all wrapped up in 100% customizable characters and Final Fantasy nostalgia. More »
Maplestory. If you haven’t ever heard of it and you regularly read Wirebot, you need to go to this website right now, download the client, and start playing some 2d grind RPG goodness. Once you are familiar with Nexon’s star game, you will understand where the free to play game structure comes from and its place in the video game universe. More »
Have you ever been to a surprise birthday party where before the person you are actually surprising walks in, another shmuck seems to steal the thunder of excitement thirty or so seconds before the birthday person arrives? I haven’t, but I assume today this shmuck is the ESRB and poor SEGA is the party thrower, peeved off for ruining the fun for us, the consumers. More »
If you are like me, you hate Apple. Not because you are a Microsoft fan boy, but because they always seem to come out with some fancy new version of the product you already own right when you have no money to upgrade. Some might say you don’t need video calling or a high resolution display screen, and that as long as your phone can make and receive calls, everything else is optional. Those people just don’t get it. How will I ever play Plants vs. Zombies without a new upgraded high resolution iPhone? There are just some things a man can’t forgo! More »
If your jaw is not on the ground by the end of this Human Revolution trailer then you need to close your Internet browser and find another form of entertainment to get stoked on. Deus Ex was one of the first cross FPS/RPG games I ever have played, and with Square-Enix on board for the true sequel (Deus Ex 2 sucked), there is nothing stopping this game from rising in the ranks of gaming greatness.
