Popcorn and the movies. Television without commercials. Yoo-Hoo and a glazed doughnut. Some things in life are just perfect for each other. Video games and music are one of those things. While gamers are unable to control the requirement to earn that last gold trophy/achievement, they are able to control what pumps through their speakers while doing so with custom in-game soundtracks. To help change-up that stale rotation of old-time favorites, the Wirebot bloggers will be providing a suggested playlist every Friday. Our recommendations this week include songs from: BOA, 2PM, MC Frontalot and a few others. More »

“Who do you love!?” Moxxi yells into the megaphone as two hapless victims enter the rink. The crowd goes wild! Let the horde in! Kill them! Ten, twenty enemies against two! Roland and Lilith don’t stand a chance! 5 rounds, 5 waves of enemies each. The crowd wants to see BLOOD! More »
Welcome to Pandora! - Home of the legendary Vault. No one is sure if this Vault actually exists, but this hasn’t stopped adventurers from trying to find it. This is because whoever finds the Vault will also find what it contains: treasure. In the game Borderlands, you play one of four “classes” of characters. They are adventurers in search of the Vault, but they have something no one else does - a guiding angel. Borderlands is technically a FPS, but it is also an RPG… a mix of two game genres that I love! There are quests to do, experience and leveling, different classes, skill points that you can distribute in a skill tree, and an endless possible combination of weapons that you can find. The style is also something that makes the game stand out - it’s realistic but comic-like. It’s like a bundle of win.
Borderlands is also made to be played by more than one person. More »
Finally, we’re getting the level cap raised!
From the blip on the feed that I saw, it stated that the next batch of premium DLC for Borderlands will not only raise said level cap, but will be “the biggest we’ve ever worked on”. Hopefully we’ll see a continuation of the story line, I know that I wasn’t very pleased at all with how the game ended! More »
I cannot remember being this excited for a game to come out since Chrono Cross. Mass Effect was everything I love about sci-fi and RPG’s rolled into one glorious disc of pure greatness. The lore, the combat, the exploration…..the geth that reminded me of cylons… everything was just fracking awesome.
With the sequel only days away, I have completely cleared my schedule in order devote nonstop attention to my favorite commander More »
In a year that brought us a new title from Activision’s Call of Duty series, Bungie’s Halo series and a slew of the yearly sure-to-be-hit sports titles, it was bound to be a flagship year for the videogame industry. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 alone broke every sales record a videogame could possibly break and Halo: ODST surprised everyone with it’s sales, performing exceptionally well for a game that was from the beginning marketed as a title that would not take long to play through. Although these mentioned games performed well in sales and reviews, 2009 was simply a year of surprises. With new titles like Borderlands and Brutal Legend as well as the triumphant return of Assassin’s Creed, this year introduced some great new titles that can hopefully be the beginnings of exciting new franchises. When Xbox Live and the Playstation Network first began releasing downloadable content for it’s titles, the packs usually consisted of gamer pictures, themes, costumes, weapons and for music games, additional songs. What’s now being released is far beyond what gamers in past years may have anticipated: gameplay. While past downloadable content sometimes added minigames to existing games, the downloadable content released in 2009 seriously lengthened games with hours of new areas, new quests and in some cases, what seemed like an entire new game added on to your existing title. In this feature I want to highlight some of 2009’s best downloadable content for hit games such as Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto 4, Borderlands and more. More »
During this time of the year we see many websites and television shows giving the public their awards for the year’s best games. Every game is of course pitted against others in it’s style or genre to make a fair contest. Year after year we always have a “Best RPG Award” and “Best Shooter Award”… but to be honest, I think we can do better. This year saw the release of a few games that truly showed that some studios are willing to step outside the box and leave gamers scratching their heads, truly pondering exactly what genre the games are proclaim to be. I really don’t care what anyone says: Dragon Age: Origins RULES. Sorry Bill, but you are so wrong. More »

The reason games like Fallout 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV are still so popular is the release of multiple downloadable content to extend the length of the game and add new features that keep players coming back. Borderlands is joining the force with it’s second addition to the Borderlands universe called the “Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot.” More »
Dear Wirebot enthusiasts, I bring to you the blogger life updates..err… Whatcha Playin!? feature for December 6th-13th. It seems some of us haven’t been very good to our consoles this past week. With Finals and the holidays it has been hard on all of us to get to our gaming. Because of this, next week looks like it is going to be jam packed with Dragon Age:Origins and some heavy fraggin for most of us….and mmo nerding for the others ;). More »

So I sat down with a friend a few days ago, and politely asked if he “wanted to play ODST“, and he replied quietly with, “I’ve never heard of it, but alright lets try.”.
Needless to say, it was nothing short of disaster.
I’m beginning to fear that developers are making games too complex for newcomers to transition into the gaming fold. Sure, you always start with something simple, but what struck me as amazing, was that my friend ended up getting into gaming because of Borderlands; he was already level 36 within 2 days of renting it!
