A bug that’s got everyone talking has hit the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Affecting both the downloadable demo as well as the full version game, the Modern Warfare 2 glitch rewards players through the access to the full versions of five different SNK Xbox Live Arcade games. It isn’t like any of us didn’t already know this, but Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 had the most successful launch of any video game ever. Pretty impressive, sure, but what makes it exciting is not what it did compared to other games, but rather what implications it has when compared to other entertainment mediums. More »
I really don’t even think I need to introduce this to you. Modern Warfare 2 has an expansion pack coming out, and they have released a new trailer showing off some of the cool new maps. Without clicking that more button, I already know you are going to buy it. Click if you must. More »
Bad stuff went down at Infinty Ward, the creators of Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare franchise, over the last few days. G4TV broke the news initially with reports from sources close to the studio that heads of IW Vince Zampella and Jason West met with Activision, and had not been seen since. After that, a bunch of ‘bouncer types’ turned up outside IW’s offices and refused to say why they were there. Jason West said he had been fired. Then Activision filed a US Securities and Exchange report.

“Prestige’d” 10 times? Unlocked all possible gun mastery’s? Have you completed your achievements ten times over? Do you know Wasteland so well that you can snipe a player from two hundred yards away before he even spawns?! Then obviously you’ve played the hell out of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It’s probably boring to you now, knowing all the nooks and crannies of every level, all the secrets and best places to camp. You know what you need? Some Map Packs! And if you have an Xbox 360 you’re in luck because you’ll be getting them sooner than your Ps3 and PC friends. More »
As our year comes to a close, many people look back on to what was once a giant page that said “Wirebot- Gaming Community, Coming Soon“. Wirebot, a site dedicated to the gaming community, released itself on October 26, 2009 with just a few bloggers on its team. It has since evolved into a bustling community, now with over 9 bloggers of its own. In just around two months of being active, Wirebot has reached so many achievements in such little time, and it will only keep growing. Here are some of its highlights, and we believe that the site will only get better, as the new year of 2010 draws even closer. More »
In a year that brought us a new title from Activision’s Call of Duty series, Bungie’s Halo series and a slew of the yearly sure-to-be-hit sports titles, it was bound to be a flagship year for the videogame industry. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 alone broke every sales record a videogame could possibly break and Halo: ODST surprised everyone with it’s sales, performing exceptionally well for a game that was from the beginning marketed as a title that would not take long to play through. Although these mentioned games performed well in sales and reviews, 2009 was simply a year of surprises. With new titles like Borderlands and Brutal Legend as well as the triumphant return of Assassin’s Creed, this year introduced some great new titles that can hopefully be the beginnings of exciting new franchises. Within the hustle and bustle of a video game publication, we sometimes forget to enjoy what brought us here to begin with: video games. There is so much out there, and so little time, that there is no way everyone can play everything. Therefore, to keep our community more in tune with what we have been spending time on, and to remind ourselves why we are here, each week we will tell a tale of what we all have been playing in the world of video gaming. So bloggers, from November 29th through December 6th, WHATCHA BEEN PLAYIN!? More »
The world of games is not only going CRAZY over the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, so are many retail stores around the country. Yesterday I had to drive down to Denver, and for me, it’s a 60 mile trip. Therefore, doing some shopping down there is usually a priority. I stopped at Super Target first as soon as it opened to check it out and look around. I wanted to see if they had any good game sales going on but I was instead bombarded with Modern Warfare 2. With the release of Ninja Assassin, we are delivered a dose of awesome ninja badassary(i just made that word up right now, roll with it) that quenches the thirst of every action movie fan out there. I mean really, How could you not like this movie? The main character, Raizo, uses two blades attached to a chain and swings them around slicing other ninjas up who betrayed him (Kratos with ninjas?). Amazing.
On another plane of existence but within the same month, us video game players got a helping dose of extreme military simulated violence More »
Things are looking good this fall/winter. An almost insane amount of heavily hyped titles are newly released or soon to be released, and one can’t help but smile about it all. I predict an extremely high absence percentage in workplaces and schools alike over the next few months. People will literally flock to their local video game retailers (or The Pirate Bay, if you are among the more unfortunate people of this world financially), and then run on home and lock themselves in, only leaving their room occasionally to purchase new six packs of Red Bull. Oh, and to honour nature’s call obviously. Some people might even have a special someone in their lives that takes care of all that for them, consequently resulting in them never ever having to leave their room. More »
In the great debate of “who is better, ninjas or pirates,” we have a new contender. Bill gates and the Microsoft crew have decided to take a crack at those dastardly swashbucklers. And no, I’m not talking about Johnny Depp and his crew of drunken plunderers. I’m talking about the good old fashioned, twenty first century, software pirates. More »
Hey Jordan, looks like over 7 million other people love the game you weren’t too crazy about. Yeah, that’s right, Modern Warfare 2 became the greatest selling video game in one day. Tuesday’s numbers came in and it sold over 7 million copies worldwide, with 3.7 million copies being sold in the U.S., 1.2 million in the UK, 350,000 in France and Germany. But wait there’s more. Attention Call of Duty Fanboys: it is probably best if you look away now, as you will not like what you read. In fact, it might make you melt and shrivel up into a pile of oozing acne puss, or at the very least make you hate me. And I don’t WANT to be hated, even by you. Just a warning.
Now that thats out of the way, I am not going to pretend like i have played it, because i haven’t(yet), but any gamer who has been playing video games for as long as i have will immediately doubt the claims any game gets when touted as “biggest game of all time”. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 does look awesome, but really, best game EVER!? Give me a break, internet. More »
So I am sure if any of you ever played public matches on Xbox live before, you must have experienced the intense amount of hateful slurs that come out of your TV. Lets face it; we live in a world where behind the interwebs, people feel like they can say anything without any reciprocation. Most of us just block the dweebs and move on with our day, not by any means a solution to the problem, but really the only thing we can do as the problem is much bigger than what we can tackle during an online game.
But when a major developer of a popular franchise, in which these situations take place, backs up and even makes light of these homophobic slurs, it creates a whole different problem. More »
