Megaman holds a dear place in my heart. I remember renting Megaman 2 for NES, and in order to just keep the game 3 days longer, my 6 year old self attempted to fool my mom into returning Snakes Rattle and Roll instead of my favorite robot killer. Even though my plan failed miserably, the memory lives on. With the resurgence of old school gaming possibilities on the Wiiware, Xbox live Arcade, and Playstation Network, us gamers can relive those classic game types in all new games released by the major developers who sparked it all. When Capcom released the first Lost Planet, I was not very impressed. After snagging this game along with Gears of War (I picked up my 360 late, okay?), I just couldn’t bring myself to sludge through the game. Not only did the story not interest me, the combat just seemed a little lackluster. The concept was great though, and the sequel is shaping up to be one of those games that I give another go. The reasons? Well, Wirebotian, I will tell you! More »
Whenever the Monster Hunter series is brought up(the quasi RPG adventure/action game from Capcom) I always think of that game where you capture monsters with real life cds. Monster Rancher! That was the name of it. What a cool game. I remember going through my parents CD collection trying to find the coolest monsters. They were not pleased to find over 100 cds that didn’t match their respective cases. Ah, those were the days! Wait, what were we talking about? More »
So while my esteemed colleagues here at Wirebot were getting vapourised over and over again in Starcraft II, I picked up my Nintendo DS, popped over to EB, and picked up a little gem that’s slipped under the radar in the wake of the big boys on the other consoles: Miles Edgeworth, Ace Attorney Investigations. A spin-off (well, it’s more of a sequel than anything) of the Phoenix Wright series, Investigations is another quality game in a long line of quality game, tweaking the well-established Phoenix Wright formula to do what is generally considered to be impossible: make law fun. Do you know that face you make after you eat a sour Warhead candy? Well if you can, get used to making it again because Bayonetta has so many WTF moments that leave your lips puckered and forehead sweating. And remember how when you ate too many of them your tongue would blister leaving you with a useless sunburned muscle that no longer functioned to taste? Alright then, you’ve been warned. If you still insist on playing Bayonetta then you’ve brought it on yourself. More »
I think it is safe to say that Bioware hit the big one with Mass Effect 2. They definitely outdid themselves with this A+ title, and even though I had some things to say about the game mechanics, the story and characters are spot on. So much that it has taken some of our writers out of commission! Mass Effect induced coma if you will. I myself just recovered from mine, but heres to hoping Patrick and William will make it through before Bioshock 2 hits our homes on February 9th.
So, for the ones who are alive and well, Whatcha been Playin!? More »
Itching for some lawyer action? Can’t wait for February 16th? Well, if you head over to the Nintendo Channel you can download a demo for Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, the spin off franchise of the Phoenix Wright series, right now. You can also nab it through the DS download function at participating retails, which most likely means anywhere you can buy the game. Who would of thought courtroom action would be so popular? More »
With the release of the Iron Man 2 trailer, Marvel and Paramount want to show us that Tony Stark is not only going to kick the crap out of the big screen again, but also that maybe this time Iron Man will grace video games the right way. More »
Capcom, where did your balls go? Yeah I just said it. Your games are good, but why are you so cautious? More »
Twitter is the newest edition to the social networking “trifecta” (along with Facebook and MySpace) but there is one thing that makes it stand apart. It is much more useful for gamers! With many major game companies, studios and developers posting their daily news announcements and activities, gamers can get news straight from the mouths of the people making things happen in the industry. In this new feature I will highlight some of the important “tweets” of the week from all over the world. More »
An article in a recent edition of Game Informer Magazine has me drooling over the possibilities of the newest installment in the series of “Dead Rising.” Appropriately named “Dead Rising 2” the title is boasting some pretty big changes from the first title including something that all hack and slash zombie games should have: Multiplayer. So i know everyone is like me and wants to be just like Claire Redfield in Resident Evil 2, to cruise down the highway on the way into Raccoon City with zombie destruction on the mind. Though we can always have that fantasy, with the partnership between Capcom and Savage Cycles we can soon make it a reality. More »

Translation be hard time for people.
There is no denying that most of the gaming gold brought to the United States is shipped over here from different countries, but no one country gives us more to ogle about than the Land of the Rising Sun. Japan keeps packing our gullets full of their delicious gaming gravy and I myself can’t help but to come back for more. But like most foods, those yummy morsels pass through many a hand before they are properly processed and packed, and a lot can go wrong along the way, specifically in terms of translation from Japanese to English. Here are some games that didn’t quite get it right when they made the hop over the Pacific. More »
