From Girlybubble: In a fit of madness, designer Helen Red Richards managed to produce one of the strangest mergings of technology and fashion I’ve ever seen. Combining the style and glam of the 1970s with old school GameBoys, she created several pairs of these funky shoes for a Nintendo campaign in 2001, which became a popular trend among the Japanese youth for awhile– or so they claim. Two Japanese companies have posted their profit/loss sheets for ‘09, since the fiscal year ends March 31st. The big gainer is Square Enix, publishers of the mighty Final Fantasy series as well as Supreme Commander and Just Cause. Projected profits are almost twice as high as last year’s, probably thanks to the combined Japanese Final Fantasy XIII and Dragon Quest IX launch in December ‘09. It’s not all good news though, with the quirky Nippon Ichi Software posting an absolutely insane 97.5% decrease in operating profits through the first three quarters of their ‘09 fiscal year. What’s up with that, dood? More »

From Girlybubble: Sadly, I’m not an owner of a PSP but the PSP-3000 Sweet Limited Package, has got me wanting one in the worst way. The package is a collaboration between Sony and American fashion designer Jill Stuart. The bundle features a Blossom Pink-colored PSP-3000, a 4GB memory stick, a Jill Stuart cloth and a Jill Stuart-branded PSP carrying case. For the fashionista in me, this is one sweet deal. More »

From Ningin: The year 1984, a long time ago in a galaxy far away, when a baby T-rex used to guard my backyard (RIP Dino), I had thought there was no way for anyone to come close to the theme song in the legendary film, the Neverending Story. What… you space monkeys are too young to have seen it? Preposterous!! Fast forward to the year 2000, Squaresoft released Final Fantasy IX. (Which is still today in the top 20 RPGs of all time.) Ok, History lesson is over. More »

Unimaginable. The bundles Sony are coming up with are getting more ridiculous. First, there was the foul Hannah Montana PSP bundle (by the way, I still haven’t gotten over how horrid it is. I cringe everytime I see that lilac colour) and soon in Japan, you will be able to purchase this. More »

From Rekuru:

Recently, more and more video games have been getting the manga treatment and it seems the Legend of Zelda is no different. More »

I am absolutely comfortable admitting that sometimes, I am attracted to video game characters. I drooled my 14-year-old-boy drool while watching Tifa FMVs in Final Fantasy VII and couldn’t get enough of Jill Valentine’s tube top leather skirt combination in Resident Evil 3. Because of this, it always bothered me when I would get flack for these hormone infused situations. I never quite understood the argument against it. Famous sayings such as “SHE ISN’T REALZ!” or “IT A PIXEL WTF U NERD,” never really made much sense to me. The fact of the matter is that if something is representative of what you are emotionally drawn towards as a person, you will find even imaginary characters that have those traits attractive.

Now that thats out of the way, I can safely say that this dude is insane. More »

From Rekuru:

While gamers in Japan have been delving into the world of Dragon Quest IX for some time now, gamers here in North America have been left wondering when we’ll get to lay our dirty mitts on the new installment of Dragon Quest (or if you’re impatient like me you’ve been playing the japanese version). From Rekuru: Most of us know what a ninja is, or at least we think we do from growing up watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and old kung-fu movies. But how and where did they come from? Did someone roll out of bed and just decide to be a ninja one day? Did someone go to a school with classes like Shruiken Throwing 101? All jokes aside, many of us don’t know much about the origins of these shadowy spies and assassins. That’s where this article comes in. More »
