MAG is finally out! And of course my husband and I were first in line to get it. Literally - we stopped by GameStop at midnight on Jan 26th to pick us up a copy. With the 2007 release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Activision and Infinity Ward knew they had a gem on their hands. Taking the Call of Duty series out of it’s classic theme of World War II and throwing players into a fictional war based in current times, the series garnered a new fan base and it essentially established the game as the must-have shooter of the year. When Call of Duty: World at War was released the next year, fans were split. With most series, players usually move on to the next step in the franchise, but due to World at War again being based in the 1940’s many players continued to play Modern Warfare up until November 10, 2009. The world of games is not only going CRAZY over the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, so are many retail stores around the country. Yesterday I had to drive down to Denver, and for me, it’s a 60 mile trip. Therefore, doing some shopping down there is usually a priority. I stopped at Super Target first as soon as it opened to check it out and look around. I wanted to see if they had any good game sales going on but I was instead bombarded with Modern Warfare 2. With the major success of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which to be honest was already anticipated by Activision, comes a return to society. Having expected major profit from this game, Activision is establishing a Veterans Grant, to be known as the Call of Duty endowment(nice name), that will sum up $1 million to be used to helping veterans find jobs in the market again.
