I recently stumbled across an interesting video on Unlicensed NES Cartridges. Hearing NES made me remember the classics…Mario and Donkey Kong used to be my favorite. But this video that I found led me to discover that there was such a thing as unlicensed games for the NES. It was so weird – shouldn’t Nintendo be the only one who makes the games for their Nintendo Entertainment System? More »

Well, not crowned literally, of course, but Tetris finally has an official world champion–Californian Jonas Neubauer , who beat over 200 players and the best players worldwide at the original NES version of Tetris at Robin Mihara’s Classic Tetris World Championship! More »

Exploding Rabbit has managed to make the perfect platformer (Super Mario Bros.) even better by allowing you to play through the game as classic Nintendo characters in Super Mario Bros. Crossover. Each character retains their original attacks and abilities (Mega Man shoots, Link slashes) adding a new dimension to the gameplay. It’s a unique experience that every Mario fan should try out at least once. More »

From Ziggytek: The RetroN 3 Video Gaming System brings back the ’80s and ’90s, when console games were about pixelated fun, not unnecessary things like production values, good voice acting, and downloadable content. With the RetroN 3, players can dust off their SEGA Genesis, Super Nintendo, and NES cartridges for a blast to the past. More »

Japanese beatboxer, Hikakin, has released video of him performing a Super Mario themed music session. There are 5 classic Mario themes mixed in there, how many can you identify? More »

Hankering for some retro gaming? Tired of crappy PC emulators you always have to deal with to get that classic Golden Axe or Super Mario RPG game time in? Still have all your old cartridges from past gaming consoles but the systems have gone by the wayside? Hyperkin has the solution, and i have to say, It looks pretty classy. More »

Sometimes the best way to unwind after a long day (and long semester), is to marathon though a game that you know from front to back. There is no real challenge because you know where every heart container lies and every solution to every puzzle, but there is comfort in knowing and solace in remembering all the ways to conquer it. When I was looking for a game to get down with last night, instead of taking out my Xbox360 and finishing off Final Fantasy XIII or playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, I decided to open a new file in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past! Being a 23-year old return to college student, I am very worried about the real world. Granted, I have bills up the yang and have literally been all over half the world, but every time I pick up Super Mario Brothers (the original NES game), I have this overwhelming urge to just sit in my room and pretend the real world doesn’t exist. Unfortunately, you can’t really do that, but that is why this picture just feels so right to me. More »

I hope never. That is my answer to the picture. Many people think the series is outdated, boring, and too linear for this day in age. They can go live in a hole with their action games for all I care. I say, keep em coming Square-Enix! More »

Lace_thongs35 has just sold a used Nintendo Entertainment System with 5 games for $13,105! You’re probably asking yourself, what was so special about that NES that it could spark a 16 person bidding war? Well, it wasn’t the NES itself everyone was after, it’s the game with the horrible box art, Stadium Events. More »

From Rekuru:

This console generation, home to high definition gaming and wii-mote waggling, genres like shooters have seen an explosion of interest with games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Gears of War, Resistance: Fall of Man, Killzone 2, Halo 3, and much more. While that’s all well and good for shooter fans, there are some gamers that have been all but left in the cold. Let’s face it, not everyone enjoys shooting things in the face. What about RPG (that’s role playing games for the uninitiated) enthusiasts? This generation, there has been very little in the way of RPG’s and while the future release of Final Fantasy XIII may help change that much like it’s predecessor VII did for the Playstation, it still doesn’t change the fact that there is a major RPG drought at the moment. What’s a gamer to do? Enter the Nintendo DS. More »

Translation be hard time for people.

There is no denying that most of the gaming gold brought to the United States is shipped over here from different countries, but no one country gives us more to ogle about than the Land of the Rising Sun. Japan keeps packing our gullets full of their delicious gaming gravy and I myself can’t help but to come back for more. But like most foods, those yummy morsels pass through many a hand before they are properly processed and packed, and a lot can go wrong along the way, specifically in terms of translation from Japanese to English. Here are some games that didn’t quite get it right when they made the hop over the Pacific. More »

All i know is that if I saw anything associated with Videogames on TV now that even slighty resembled this, I would quit them forever. More »
